StarTie Installation

1. Drill 6mm pilot hole in existing wall (not required in low density block). Line up tie with pilot hole, resting support tool on new leaf.

2. Drive in tie with hammer or SDS drill. (With new party walls the tie is installed at an angle and bent to lie in new mortar bed). Outer end of tie embedded in mortar of new masonry leaf.

The tie is installed into the
existing masonry and simply bedded into the mortar as the new wall is
constructed.
Addition of new party wall. The tie
is usually installed at an angle into the existing wall and bent to lie
along the mortar bed of the new wall. One end of the tie can be sleeved
to create a movement joint.
Extension of existing wall. Ties
are installed horizontally into either the mortar beds or brickwork of
the existing wall and bedded into the mortar on the new wall.
Points to Note
The same procedures apply when adding a new wall to a solid wall, a cavity wall or a single leaf wall. StarTies are equally effective whether the new or existing wall is constructed from brick, block or stonework.

- An existing solid or cavity wall is being extended.
Features
- One-piece grade 304 or 316 stainless steel tie.
- Effective in brick, blocks, concrete, stone and regional materials.
- Great axial strength resists all wind loads.
- Multiple drip points prevent cross cavity water transfer.
- Designed for use with or without insulation.
Benefits
- Helical design ensures excellent mortar bond.
- Provides secure stress free connection.
- Pushed through insulation without affecting thermal properties.
- One tie length accommodates cavity wander.
